Glitch came about in the late 1990s as technology progressed and computer-aided composition slowly eclipsed the traditional analogue approach to crafting Electronica. The palette of possible sounds widened immensely as the artist was no longer confined to sequenced percussion, synth, and samples, but rather any imaginable sound could be used, including digital glitches. A handful of experimental artists created cerebral hybrids of experimental Techno, Minimalism, digital collage, and noise glitches, and the genre is still well-loved today and is continually evolving.
